Re-review on 100% hike of MP salaries
New Delhi/Hyderabad, July 13: In the wake of severe criticism against the recommendations for 100 percent hike in salaries of MPs and constitutional and office allowances, the Parliamentary committee, set up on MPs salaries and allowances, will re-review the issue. The committee, headed by BJP MP Adityanath, will meet today. Adityanath said the committee has not yet submitted its report to the government and no decision was taken in this regard. The final decision will be taken today. The MPs salaries were last increased in 2010. At present, each MP draws a salary of Rs 50,000, constitutional allowance of Rs 45,000 and office allowance of Rs 45,000. Each MP will get a monthly income of Rs 1.4 lakh. The Committee has requested the government to increase this amount to Rs 2.8 lakh. According to sources, the Parliament committee was affirmative about the various demands of several members regarding salary hike.
