AP, TS Intelligence officials had undergone training in snooping

Hyderabad, July 13: The Andhra Pradesh and Telangana officials had undergone training in phone tapping at Prague in Czech Republic, according to news reports. The officials were trained in voice-based interception of mobile calls, remote tapping and interception of voice calls, data, e-mails and others with hand held devices. There were allegations that though the technology was meant to keep surveillance on Maoists and terrorists, it was used to track the movements of political opponents. The news reports quoted the GOs issued during united AP and after the bifurcation of the States permitted the Intelligence officials to attend ‘Intelligence Support Systems World Europe Conference cum Expo, for Law enforcement agencies’ at the Clarion Congress, Hotel Prague at Czech Republic. The officials attended several conferences conducted by the same organization. While AP politicians alleged that the Telangana government used the equipment procured at the conferences on them. Telangana police officials refuted the allegations.
