Police sweeps roads

Hyderabad, July 12: Tension prevailed for some time when the municipal workers prevented police personnel from removing garbage on the roads in Hyderabad on Sunday. The state wide strike of municipal workers entered seventh day on Sunday. The workers unions are demanding regularisation of services of contract workers, pay hike and houses for all employees. Garbage has piled up in the entire Hyderabad city and all areas in the State causing concern among the citizens. Overflowing garbage bins were stinking and posing health hazards to the residents. Observing this, the police, as a part of Swachh Bharat, cleaned the roads and removed litter in Hyderabad old city. Meanwhile, the workers unions on Sunday declared that they will launch relay hunger strike from Monday. Also, they declared of launching indefinite hunger strike.
