First girls army training school in Punjab
Hyderabad, July 10: The first army training school for girls in the country would be set up in Punjab. Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute has been established in Mohali, which will be inaugurated by Union Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar on July 25. 25 students were selected out of the total 1,700 applicants for the first batch of trainees. Girls will be given training in special skills needed for army, navy and air force, along with normal education. This institute is affiliated to Maharaja Ranjith Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (Men) in Mohali.
