Bhuma Nagi Reddy gets bail

Hyderabad, July 8: The SC, ST Special Court in Kurnool today granted bail to YSRCP's Nandyal legislator Bhuma Nagi Reddy. The court ordered the MLA to produce a personal bond worth Rs 10,000. Kurnool police had booked cases under IPC section 353, 188, 506 against the legislator under the sections 353, 188 and 506 of CrPC and SC/ST Atrocities Act for allegedly entering into heated arguments with DSP Devadanam during the polling for the MLC election in the town. The Kurnool police argued in the court that Bhuma Nagi Reddy obstructed the police officials from discharging their duties during the MLC polls. They also alleged that the MLA used the words ‘Don’t touch me’, for which the judge opined that ‘Don’t touch me’ does not attract the provision of SC/ST Atrocities Act. The judge also said that it is difficult to judge the caste of police personnel, who wear a uniform. After he was taken to the local jail, Nagi Reddy had complained of health problems. On the advice of medical doctors, the MLA was shifted to the hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. Meantime, lawyers of the MLA had filed his bail plea in the local court. After hearing out the arguments of both parties, the court granted bail to Nagi Reddy this afternoon.
