HC rules out CBI inquiry into Seshachalam encounter

Hyderabad, July 7: The Hyderabad High Court ruled out CBI inquiry into the Seshachalam encounter in which 20 red sanders woodcutters from Tamil Nadu were killed on April 7. A bench headed by acting Chief Justice Dileep B Bhosale and Justice SV Bhatt refused the victims advocate Vrinda Grover’s plea to record the statements of key witnesses Balachandra, Shekhar and Elongola in Tamil Nadu. The bench expressed satisfaction over the investigation of Special Investigation Team (SIT) and opined that there is no need for CBI investigation into the case at this stage. The petition was posted for its next hearing on August 3. The bench made these observations while hearing Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking CBI investigation into case came.
