SIT issues notices to 12 telecom firms over phone-tapping

Hyderabad, June 21: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Andhra Pradesh government, to investigate cases filed against Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao, issued notices 12 telecom firms in Hyderabad over alleged phone-tapping of AP CM and others. The SIT asked the telecom companies representatives to attend the enquiry to be held at Bhavanipuram Police Station in Vijayawada tomorrow. The officials reportedly have given a list of 147 phone numbers to the service providers and asked them verify whether the list contains mobile numbers intercepted by Telangana police. They sought details of Telangana officials who approached the telecom companies for intercepting phones. While some service providers informed that they can provide call data pertaining to two-week period, other came forward to furnish call data records up to 90 days.
