Mumbai Indians End Losing Streak with Dominant 99-Run Victory Over Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026
Mumbai Indians finally breathed a sigh of relief in the IPL 2026 season as they registered a commanding 99-run victory over Gujarat Titans on Monday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The win came after four consecutive defeats, providing much-needed momentum and confidence to Hardik Pandya’s side.

Chasing a target of 200, Gujarat Titans collapsed dramatically without any fight, getting bundled out for just 100 runs in 15.5 overs. The downfall began on the very first ball when Sai Sudharsan was dismissed for a duck by Jasprit Bumrah — marking Bumrah’s first wicket of the season after going wicketless in the previous five matches.

Gujarat’s top order failed miserably, with Jos Buttler scoring 5 and captain Shubman Gill managing just 14. Washington Sundar offered some resistance with 26 runs, but the rest of the batting lineup offered little fight. Young pacer Ashwani Kumar was the star of the bowling attack, picking up an impressive 4 wickets for 24 runs in 4 overs. He was well supported by Mitchell Santner and Gajanand Chero, who took two wickets each, while Bumrah and Hardik Pandya claimed one wicket apiece.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians, after losing the toss and being asked to bat first, got off to a shaky start. Openers Quinton de Kock (13) and Danish Malewar (2) departed early, and in-form Suryakumar Yadav could only manage 15. At 44/3, the team was in trouble before Tilak Varma and Naman Dhir (45) steadied the innings with a crucial 52-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Once Dhir was dismissed, Tilak Varma unleashed a spectacular assault on the Gujarat bowlers. The young left-hander smashed an unbeaten 101 off just 45 balls, including 8 fours and 7 sixes, single-handedly taking the game away from the opposition. Captain Hardik Pandya contributed a steady 15, helping Mumbai post a competitive total of 199/5 in 20 overs. Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the Gujarat bowlers with 3 wickets.

This comprehensive victory has brought joy back to the Mumbai Indians camp and is expected to boost their confidence significantly heading into the crucial upcoming matches of the IPL 2026 season.
