Anonymous caller dupes man of Rs 5.1 lakh

Kakinada, June 6: A man was duped of Rs 5.1 lakh by an imposter who claimed to be a bank tele-caller and collected the victim's ATM PIN and account details. The victim Sheelam Veerababu resides at Maredubaka area in the town. He deposited Rs 5.1 lakh in a private bank at Anaparthi. On May 26, the accused called Veerababu, informed that ATM card was blocked and persuaded him to share his ATM PIN and CVV number. Soon after revealing the information, Veerababu received several passwords on his mobile and the accused collected details of passwords by assuring him that ATM card would be activated. In all, the fraudster collected 13 passwords from Veerababu. Meanwhile, his phone got discharged and when he switched in on the next day he received message that Rs 5.1 lakh was withdrawn from his account. The bank staff informed Veerababu that his money was transferred online.
