Chandrababu performs 'Bhumi Puja' for capital city

Guntur, June 6: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his wife Bhuvanewsari performed 'Bhumi Puja' for the construction of new capital Amaravathi at Mandadam in Tullur mandal of Guntur district on Saturday morning. The ceremony was performed amidst vedic chants. The Chief Minister lauded those farmers who had donated land for the capital city despite pressure from vested interest groups. The puja was performed at survey No 135 and 136 in the village. The CM said that a new era has begun in the history of Andhra Pradesh and exuded confidence that the new capital would be better than Singapore. He reiterated that Amaravathi would be developed as tourism and business hub. Chandrababu's family members, actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Sujana Chowdary, Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, Deputy Speaker M Buddha Prasad, Ministers Prathipati Pulla Rao, P Narayna and others participated in the ceremony.
