Governor Approves KTR's Prosecution in Formula E Race Case
The approval allows the ACB to move forward with legal action against KTR over alleged irregularities in the event held during the previous BRS government's tenure. The agency is now expected to file a chargesheet in the case, which involves the alleged misappropriation of approximately ₹54.88 crore.
The ACB had registered a case against KTR, senior IAS officer Arvind Kumar, and former HMDA Chief Engineer BLN Reddy under the Prevention of Corruption Act and relevant IPC sections. The allegations state that payments for the event were made in violation of rules and without proper authorisations. The Formula E race scheduled for February 2024 was later cancelled by the new Congress government.
KTR has previously denied any wrongdoing, stating that the decision to host the event was made in good faith to promote Hyderabad. He had also challenged his accusers, saying he was prepared to undergo a lie-detector test to prove his innocence.
