Officials Must Remain Vigilant for the Next 48 Hours: Minister Nara Lokesh
In the aftermath of Cyclone Montha making landfall, the Andhra Pradesh government has focused its attention on relief operations across the affected districts. Minister for Education and IT Nara Lokesh conducted a teleconference from the Secretariat with district collectors to review the situation and assess ongoing relief measures. Home Minister Anitha, Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, and RTGS Secretary Katamneni Bhaskar also participated in the meeting.

During the conference, Nara Lokesh directed officials to remain highly alert for the next 48 hours. He instructed that electricity supply must be fully restored to all homes and commercial establishments in cyclone-affected regions without delay. He further ordered the Fire Department to clear accumulated mud and debris from roads caused by heavy rains.

The Minister emphasized that immediate assessments of crop damage should be prepared and all necessary steps must be taken to protect damaged crops. He called for comprehensive reports on loss of life and structural damage resulting from the severe impact of Cyclone Montha. Nara Lokesh also directed officials to continuously monitor damaged bridges and culverts and to take urgent measures to strengthen tanks, ponds, and canal embankments.

Highlighting the importance of sanitation in inundated areas, Nara Lokesh instructed officials to take preventive measures to control the spread of infectious diseases. He ordered that anti-venom medicines for snakebites be kept available in all hospitals and emphasized the need to ensure access to safe drinking water for all affected people. He further directed that essential commodities be distributed immediately to cyclone victims and fishing communities impacted by the storm.
