Padma Awards 2025: Second Phase Sees Recognition for Southern Stalwarts

The second phase of the Padma Awards presentation ceremony was held with grandeur on Tuesday evening at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the national capital, New Delhi. President Droupadi Murmu attended the event as the chief guest and presented the prestigious awards to eminent individuals who have rendered distinguished service in various fields.

As previously announced by the central government on the occasion of Republic Day this year, a total of seven individuals were selected for the Padma Vibhushan, 19 for the Padma Bhushan, and 113 for the Padma Shri. In the first phase of the awards presentation held on April 28, awards were conferred on 71 recipients, including prominent Telugu personalities such as Nandamuri Balakrishna and Dr. Nageshwar Reddy.

In the recently concluded second phase of the ceremony, several other notable personalities received their honors. Renowned film actress Shobana was awarded the Padma Bhushan. Manda Krishna Madiga, the founding president of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS), received the Padma Shri from President Droupadi Murmu.

Additionally, V. Raghavendra Acharya Panchamukhi from Andhra Pradesh, recognized for his contributions in literature and education, was awarded the Padma Shri. Professor K. L. Krishna was also honored with the Padma Shri in the same category. Noted Kannada actor Anant Nag received the Padma Bhushan.
