Google Co-Founder Sergey Brin Donates $700 Million in Alphabet Shares
Sergey Brin, co-founder of the technology giant Google, has once again demonstrated his philanthropic commitment. Recently, he donated Alphabet shares worth approximately $700 million (around ₹5,845 crore), as revealed by documents submitted to regulatory authorities. However, the recipient of this substantial donation has not been disclosed, leading to speculation in market circles that the shares may have been given to a religious organization, a financial trust, or an investment firm.

According to official filings, Sergey Brin donated a total of 4.1 million Alphabet shares, comprising both Class A and Class C stock. This level of giving is not new for Brin. In 2023, after the launch of Google’s AI-based search features, he had donated shares worth $600 million. Furthermore, it is reported that he has already given over $100 million in donations in several rounds this year.

Sergey Brin is widely recognized for his philanthropic initiatives. In particular, he has channeled significant funding toward Parkinson’s disease research through his personal foundation. His non-profit organization has also supported multiple climate change-related projects, including a $155 billion energy initiative based in Copenhagen.

Interestingly, the news of this donation emerged shortly after Google’s annual developer conference, where it announced new AI-powered search features. This coincided with a 5.6% rise in Alphabet’s stock value. Despite this large-scale donation, Sergey Brin’s personal wealth remains unaffected. His net worth is estimated to exceed $140 billion, ensuring his continued position among the world's wealthiest individuals.
