Seshachalam encounter: Tension outside Andhra organisations in Chennai

Chennai, April 7: Tamil Nadu government and Tamil people in the neighbouring state have expressed their anger over the death of 20 persons in a major encounter between red sanders smugglers and the special task force personnel in Seshachalam forests of Chittoor district on Tuesday morning. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Paneerselvam and opposition party leader Vaiko slammed the encounter and demanded an immediate inquiry into the incident. Most of those killed were said to be labourers. Meanwhile, there is tension in Chennai over fears that there could be attacks on Andhra people and their organisations. In this connection, Tamil Nadu police have strengthened security in localities and organisations where the Andhra population was in large numbers. Politicial parties in Tamil Nadu and AP also express their anger over the encounter killings in forests of Chittoor district.
