Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) President Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday visited the family of Murali Nayak, the soldier who lost his life in cross-border firing by Pakistan. Travelling by road from his residence in Bengaluru, Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy arrived at Kalli Tanda in Gorantla Mandal, Sri Sathya Sai district, earlier in the day.

Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy met with Murali Nayak's parents, Sriram Nayak and Jyothibai, offering them his condolences and support during this time of grief. “May Murali Nayak’s soul rest in peace. He remains an inspiration to all,” said Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

He added that the country remains indebted to the sacrifice made by Murali Nayak and announced financial assistance of ₹25 lakh to the soldier’s family on behalf of the YSR Congress Party. Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy assured them that the party would continue to stand by the family in all possible ways. Following his visit, he departed from the village.

During the condolence meeting, Murali Nayak’s father expressed his emotions profoundly. As Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy paid his respects, the grieving father reportedly said, “Murali… Jagananna has come for you… Get up and salute him,” a moment that moved everyone present.

Earlier, the state government had announced ₹50 lakh in financial assistance to the family, along with five acres of agricultural land, a 300-square-yard residential plot, and a government job for one family member. In addition, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan had personally declared that he would contribute ₹25 lakh to Murali Nayak’s family.
