Fawad Khan’s Post on Indian Military Strike Draws Rupali Ganguly’s Ire

Pakistani actor Fawad Khan’s remarks on India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ have triggered a major controversy. Indian television actress Rupali Ganguly expressed strong displeasure over his comments and also criticized his past involvement in Indian cinema. Furthermore, she welcomed the Indian government's recent decision to ban Pakistani content on OTT platforms.

‘Operation Sindoor’ was a retaliatory strike by the Indian Armed Forces targeting terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), following the Pahalgam terror attack. Referring to this operation, Fawad Khan posted on social media, stating: “I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of those who died or were injured in this disgraceful attack. May the departed souls rest in peace and may their loved ones find strength. Stop igniting flames with provocative words. Nothing is more important than innocent lives. May wisdom prevail. Insha’Allah. Pakistan Zindabad!” Khan wrote this message on his Instagram account.

Actress Rupali Ganguly reacted strongly to Fawad Khan’s comments. Sharing a screenshot of his post on her X account, she wrote, “Your work in Indian films was also a ‘disgrace’ to us,” delivering a sharp rebuke. She also tagged her post with hashtags such as #OperationSindoor, #IndianArmy, and #IndianAirForce. Indirectly referencing Fawad Khan’s past roles in Indian films like Khoobsurat, Kapoor & Sons, and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, she further criticized his association with Indian cinema.

Rupali Ganguly also welcomed the Indian government's recent ban on Pakistani content on OTT platforms. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had issued a directive instructing all OTT and media streaming platforms to immediately suspend all songs, films, series, podcasts, and other media content originating from Pakistan, citing national security concerns. The ministry’s notice stated, “All OTT platforms, media streaming services, and intermediaries must immediately halt the streaming of web series, films, songs, podcasts, and any other content from Pakistan.”

Rupali Ganguly endorsed this move, stating on social media, “In times of heightened tensions, we must protect our digital borders. Hats off to the Modi government for banning Pakistani streaming content!”

Meanwhile, Fawad Khan was expected to make a return to Bollywood with the Indian film Abeer Gulaal. However, the release of the film, which was originally scheduled for today, has been postponed due to the April Pahalgam terror attack and the subsequent rise in India-Pakistan tensions.
