Sand smuggling continues in Srikakulam district

Srikakulam, April 5, 2015: Illegal sand mining is continuing in Srikakulam district despite Government saying that strict action would be taken against sand smugglers. As police failed to control sand smuggling, people of Annavaram in Palkonda Mandal of the district have themselves turned law enforcers and have stopped several sand-laden lorries at the village last night and called police. The police have warned the smugglers not to violate the law but failed to take action against them. The illegal mining of sand has been taking place on the shores of Nagavali River during night times.
