Former Minister Roja Accused of Land Grab by TNTUC Leader in Chittoor
Victims from various parts of Andhra Pradesh approached the central office of the Telugu Desam Party in Mangalagiri seeking redressal of their grievances. On Saturday, several individuals brought their complaints to the attention of party leaders. Notably, a leader from Chittoor district made serious allegations of land encroachment against former minister R.K. Roja.
Gunasekhar Reddy, a leader of the Telugu Nadu Trade Union Council (TNTUC) from Kalimbaka in Vijayapuram mandal of Chittoor district, alleged that land belonging to his family was encroached upon by former minister R.K. Roja, her husband Selvamani, and the chairperson of Nagari Municipality, in collaboration with a person named Meenakumar. He stated that the disputed land near Jyothinagar in Nagari was originally purchased by his father in 1982, and that the accused parties had illegally constructed a tin shed on it.
Gunasekhar Reddy claimed that although he had lodged a complaint with the police, the authorities were acting in favor of the accused and harassing him instead. He expressed distress over the lack of action despite making multiple appeals to revenue officials, including the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) and the Tahsildar. Seeking justice, he submitted his complaint at the Telugu Desam Party office.
Andhra Pradesh Biodiversity Board Chairman Neelayapalem Vijay Kumar received the complaints from Gunasekhar Reddy and other aggrieved individuals. Among them was a woman named Ramanamma from Mulakalacheruvu in Annamayya district, who alleged that her house was illegally demolished and urged action against those responsible.
Koppula Narasimha Rao from Nadikudi village in Dachepalli mandal, Palnadu district, requested that authorities remove his agricultural land from the list of prohibited lands. Similarly, Tirumalayya Yadav from Peddaraveedu village in Prakasam district submitted a petition stating that bills for several development works undertaken in his village during the 2014–2019 period had not been sanctioned and sought their immediate release.
According to reports, Telugu Desam Party leaders assured the complainants that the grievances would be examined and that the party would stand in support of the victims.
