India Seals Attari-Wagah Border Following Pahalgam Attack
India has completely shut down the Attari-Wagah border, the key land crossing point between India and Pakistan. This decision follows a week during which people from both countries continued to travel via this border. The closure comes in the wake of the recent militant attack in Pahalgam, after which India implemented strict measures against Pakistan.

As part of these measures, India repatriated Pakistani nationals residing in the country. The deadline for this repatriation, which applied to various visa categories, ended on April 30. In this context, officials confirmed that the Attari-Wagah border has now been fully closed.

Authorities stated that the border is now entirely sealed and there is no movement permitted between the two nations. On Wednesday, 125 Pakistani nationals in India were sent back to their home country. With this, the total number of Pakistani citizens who have left India over the past seven days has reached 911. On the same day, 15 Indian nationals who had been in Pakistan returned to India through the border crossing.

The Indian government had issued orders for Pakistani nationals to leave the country following the brutal attack in Pahalgam on April 22. Citizens holding 12 categories of visas were given a deadline of April 27 to depart, while those on medical visas were granted until April 29.
