Hyderabad: Minister for Finance, Health and Family Welfare T Harish Rao, along with Minister for PR & RD Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Minister for Education Sabitha Indra Reddy, Minister for SC Development Koppula Eshwar, Minister for BC Welfare G Kamalakar, Minister for Tribal Welfare Satyavathi Rathod and Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar IAS participated in a video conference with District Collectors, Additional Collectors, DPOs, DMHOs and other senior officials from BRKR Bhavan today.  Issues relating to rise seasonal diseases, food safety measures in residential schools/hostels and Covid vaccination in schools and hotels were discussed in the conference.

During the conference Minister Harish Rao impressed upon the district collectors to be vigilant towards  seasonal diseases in view of the prolonged spells of rainfall in the state.  As there is a rise in the cases of seasonal diseases, Collectors have been asked to take up special drives like Friday dry day in all the schools, hostels and other institutions.  Similarly 10 minutes at 10 AM special campaign which was taken up every Sunday should also be revived.  The municipal department was directed to ensure active participation of municipal commissioners to intensify general sanitation, drain cleaning and mosquito control measures.  Minister also asked the district Collectors to take up special campaign and intensify booster vaccination drive.

Minister for Panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao asked the officials to step up anti mosquito  and anti larval activities, campaign to remove water logging, regular drain cleaning, garbage disposal  and activate local village health and sanitation committees and health staff. Regular cleaning of surrounding areas of bore wells, proper maintenance of tap and bore wells should also be ensured.

Minister for Education Sabitha Indra Reddy  said that the hostel wardens should be made responsible for matters relating to hygiene, sanitation and cleanliness of the hostel and also supervise the work of the sanitation staff. SC Development minister Koppula Eshwar instructed the District collectors to ensure that sanitation should be taken up in all the residential schools and hostels on a daily basis. BC Welfare Minister Gangula Kamalakar cautioned the collectors about the quality of rice supplied in the hostels and wanted them to inspect the schools and hostels regularly. Minister for Tribal Welfare Satyavati Rathod observed that a special officer for each institution should be appointed to regularly monitor the functioning of schools and hostels.

Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar congratulated the district collectors for their efforts in ensuring that no loss of human life occurred due to floods. Special CS MAUD Arvind Kumar, Secretary PR& RD Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Secretary SC Development Rahul Bojja, Secretary Health SAM Rizvi, Secretary Tribal Welfare Christina Z Chongthu, Special Secretary Finance Ronald Rose, CDMA Satyanarayana, Commissioner GHMC Lokesh Kumar, Commissioner Health Sweta Mohanty, Director Education Devasena and other officials attended the video conference.

Later Minister for Finance, Health and Family Welfare T Harish Rao, Minister for PR & RD E Dayakar Rao, Minister for SC Development Koppula Eshwar, Minister for BC Welfare G Kamalakar addressed the media on seasonal diseases.
