National Defence College trainee officers call on Governor at Raj Bhavan

Hyderabad, March 22: Trainees at the National Defence College, New Delhi, called on Hon'ble Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan at Raj Bhavan, here, on Tuesday.

As part of the study tour, a team of 15 members of the ''National Security and Strategic Studies' of NDC led by Air Vice-Marshal Tejbir Singh had an interaction with the Governor. 

The NDC conducts a 47 week course every year on 'National Security and Strategic Studies" for Defence staff, foreign nationals, members of Indian civil services and corporate sector persons.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor called upon the youth to know more about the sacrifices being made by our valiant armed forces. 

"I have utmost respect to the defence personnel, who are protecting our nation and only because of them, every person in the nation is living safely and happily", she said.

Interacting with the officer trainees, she said that due to the continuous efforts by State and Central governments, our country emerged successful in dealing with Covid-19 pandemic. 

"With the clarion call by our Hon'ble Prime Minister, we were able to produce vaccines indigenously to fight with Covid-19" she said. She also highlighted the efforts being made by central government in expanding medical education in the country.

The Governor also explained the initiatives by Raj Bhavan in the fields of Nutritional gaps in PTGs, Higher Education and health etc.

India is proud of indigenous vaccine: Governor TamilisaiGovernor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on Tuesday said that the country is proud of its indigenous vaccine and the vaccine makers.

“Our country is safe due to the successful vaccination on a massive scale. Our country has registered phenomenal success in vaccine development, production, administration, and its supply to other countries,” she added.

The Governor was speaking at the FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), Hyderabad chapter event, here.

As part of the FLO event, the Governor honoured the Bharat Biotech‘s Dr. Krishna Ella and Ms. Suchitra Ella for their contribution in coming up with the indigenous vaccine to fight COVID-19.

“I am very happy to felicitate the Ella couple for their tremendous work and successfully producing the COVAXIN against all odds. They were successful in overcoming criticism, hurdles, and cynicism in the process of making the country’s indigenous vaccine,” she added. 

The Governor stated that India came a long way from a State of waiting for the vaccine imports from developed countries stage to that of vaccine exporting nation, this is all possible because of the relentless efforts of our scientists and the vaccine manufacturers. 

She stated that our country had successfully taken up the world’s largest vaccination drive and had administered more than 180 crore vaccine doses and had also supplied the vaccine doses to around 150 countries across the globe.

On the occasion, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan emphasized on the need to promote women entrepreneurship and create more opportunities for the women to make their own mark in the field of entrepreneurship.

The Governor congratulated the FLO, Hyderabad Chapter, on successful completion of 20 years and for working for the cause of women empowerment.

FLO, Hyderabad Chapter Chairperson Ms Uma Chigurupati and other senior functionaries of the organization were present.
