Konaseema: Konaseema's special Atreyapuram Pootharekulu, which has special recognition in Telugu states, is set to receive geographical indication (GI). District Collector Himansu Shukla has announced that he will release the geographical identification gazette notification to Sardar Cotton Pootharekula Sangam within the next four months. According to the sources, the announcement was made during a meeting attended by Makireddy Manoj of Damodar Sanjeevaiah Law University, the President of Atrepuram Putarekula Sangam, the Collector and members of the association. The Pootharekulu, which have a history of 400 years, are highly valued by the people of Atreyapuram who are expressing their happiness at the prospect of them receiving international recognition.
