Live: CM KCR Speaks After Meeting Maharashtra BRS Leaders
A delegation of farmers and farmers' union leaders from Maharashtra has arrived in Hyderabad to meet the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao after appealing to him to lead the farmers' movement in the country. Several farmers' organizations from Maharashtra have joined the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party, and the Chief Minister presided over the function at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad where Maharashtra Farmers' Union leader Sharad Joshi Praneeth and other farmers covered the BRS scarves in the presence of CM KCR. KCR welcomed the farmers of Maharashtra into the party and addressed the gathering.
KCR spoke about the dire conditions that Telangana farmers used to face, where five to six farmers were losing their lives every day. He was emotional while addressing the gathering and expressed his gratitude towards the formation of a separate state that solved most of the problems. Today, Telangana is the leading producer of paddy in the country, and the Chief Minister attributed this to the strong will of the people in Telangana.
KCR then questioned why countries like Singapore, which have limited resources like soil, have progressed so much when India has abundant resources but still lags behind. He also criticized the Centre's comparison of protesting farmers to terrorists and expressed his admiration for the farmers' persistence in fighting for their issues. He mentioned that the Prime Minister had apologized to the farmers in the end.
Furthermore, he criticized the state of vehicle speed in India and how it affects the country's international progress. KCR firmly believed that farmers have the power to make the country better, and their contribution cannot be undermined.
