Deadly bus crash in Saudi Arabia leaves 20 Hajj pilgrims dead, 29 injured
According to reports from Saudi state media, a bus carrying numerous passengers crashed into a bridge, overturned, and subsequently caught fire on Monday. The incident, which took place in southwestern Saudi Arabia, resulted in the deaths of at least 21 people, while 29 others sustained injuries. Footage of the aftermath depicted the burnt wreckage of the bus.
The reports indicate that the crash happened in southwestern Asir province, which borders Yemen, as a result of the vehicle's brakes failing. The tragedy occurred during the first week of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, where individuals observe daily fasting from dawn to dusk and often travel to attend nightly gatherings with loved ones.
