Hyderabad: YSRTP President YS Sharmila paid tribute to the idols of Rani Rudrama and Chakali Ailamma on Hyderabad's Tank Bund on Women's Day. Later, she staged a protest against the increasing attacks on women in the state. The protest caused a heavy traffic jam, and the police arrested her for initiating the demonstration on the Tank Bund road without prior permission. Police shifted her to the Bolaram police station.

While speaking to the media, YS Sharmila alleged that MLC Kavitha, KCR's daughter, was involved in the liquor scam. Kavitha expressed concern over the safety of women in the state and added that no one in the state is safe except Kavitha. Sharmila alleged that due to widespread availability of liquor is the reason behind the attacks on women and demanded CM KCR to respond on the issue.
