Karnataka: Shiksha the robot is a new type of teacher that has emerged in the rural regions of Karnataka, India, where access to education and technology is limited. Designed to teach primary school children in an interactive and innovative way, Shiksha wears a uniform, has hair in two braids, and looks like a girl from a rural school. Creator Prof Akshay Mashelkar saw a gap in learning and human values amongst children post-Covid, and believes Shiksha can help fill the gaps while teachers instill human values. The robot can teach a variety of subjects and is programmed to teach up to Class 4.
