Desperate Measures: Prisoner Swallows Phone to Avoid Detection
Qaishar Ali, an inmate at a prison in Gopalganj, eastern Bihar, was rushed to a government hospital after he complained of unbearable stomach pain over the weekend. Upon examination, doctors discovered a foreign object in his stomach, which the police later identified as a cell phone.
According to sources, the inmate claimed to have swallowed the device during a surprise inspection by jail officials on Saturday morning, fearing he would be caught with the contraband. His stomach problems became so severe that he had to be hospitalized immediately.
Dr. Salam Siddiqui, the medical officer who treated the prisoner, stated that a full investigation into the incident is required. The hospital performed an X-ray on the inmate's stomach, which revealed the presence of the foreign object.
