PM Modi's Sarcasm Sends BJP MPs into Laughter in Parliament
Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a fiery speech in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, where he launched a pointed attack against the opposition and the Congress party. This came as the opposition was protesting for a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) investigation into the allegations against the Adani Group made by Hindenburg Research.
While delivering his reply to the motion of thanks on the President's address, PM Modi accused the Congress party of misusing Article 356 of the Constitution to dismiss 90 state governments while they were in power at the center. He also criticized former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, alleging that she used this article 50 times to dismiss elected state governments.
PM Modi took a strong stance against the Gandhi family, stating that India is not the fiefdom of any family, and questioned why members of the Gandhi family do not use the surname Nehru. He also accused the Congress government of trying to topple the state governments of Tamil Nadu led by Karunanidhi and Andhra Pradesh led by NTR.
His strong remarks against the opposition and the Congress party sparked laughter among the BJP parliamentarians, who could not contain their amusement.
