CCTV Footage Revealed: The Face Behind the Peshawar Mosque Tragedy
More than 100 people were killed in a devastating suicide bombing at a mosque in a police compound in the Pakistani city of Peshawar this week. The attacker, who has been identified as Moazzam Jah Ansari, a member of a militant network, was dressed in a police uniform and entered the high-security area on a motorcycle.
CCTV footage capturing the bomber's suspicious activities was released to the public.
The bombing, which took place as worshippers gathered for noon prayers at a mosque specifically built for police personnel and their families, was the deadliest to hit Peshawar in a decade. The northwestern city, which has been plagued by Islamist militant violence for decades, is located near the volatile Pashtun tribal lands near the Afghanistan border.
