On Saturday, New Year's Eve celebrations from Miami to Los Angeles and the renowned Times Square ball drop in New York will be aired across the nation. The lighting and raising of the New Year's Eve Ball atop One Times Square will signal the beginning of the official Times Square New Year's Eve celebration at 6 p.m. ET. The Eve ball drop trial run event was held on Friday in Time Square, New York, and it is anticipated to draw crowds. Over 30,000 LED lights are installed inside the 12 foot diameter, 11,875 pound ball. The eve ball will begin to descend from a tall pole on December 31 at 11:55 p.m., followed by the start of the new year's celebrations.
