By developing a foetus outside the body of a person who would typically carry it to term, an artificial womb enables extracorporeal pregnancy. What if a facility existed that generated thousands of children every day? Too dismal, don't you think? The idea behind the first artificial womb facility in the world has been made public, so you don't need to think too hard. It goes without saying that it has impressed and alarmed online users alike. The facility, EctoLife, will have the capacity to produce 30,000 babies annually. It is based on more than 50 years of innovative scientific study carried out by researchers across the globe. Biotechnologist Hashem Al-Ghaili, who resides in Berlin, developed the idea.
