Breaking: Liz Truss resigns as UK PM
On Thursday, UK Prime Minister Liz Truss announced her resignation amid backlash over her aggressive tax cut strategy, ending a contentious tenure. After Ms. Truss' 45-day tenure, the political crisis has struck the UK once again as a result of her resignation.
Her first mini-budget presentation as PM did not go well since she received harsh criticism for her economic strategy. The opposing party then got ready to propose a motion of no confidence. But Ms. Liz resigned from the esteemed position in defence of her economic policy norms.
After defeating former Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak in the Conservative Party leadership race, Truss succeeded Boris Johnson in early September.
