In light of incidents where cybercriminals impersonate police officers to deceive people through phone calls about receiving drug parcels, TSRTC Managing Director Sajjanar has issued several important advisories. He warned against responding to any phone or IVR calls claiming the arrival of drug parcels. Sajjanar advised that anyone who falls victim to such scams should report to the cybercrime helpline 1930. He expressed concern that even highly educated individuals are falling prey to these scams, highlighting the distress shared by multiple victims who personally approached him.

Sajjanar revealed a recent scam where a PhD scholar from IIT Hyderabad was defrauded of Rs. 30 lakhs. The criminals convinced the scholar of a threat to his family from terrorist sleeper cells and falsely claimed that he was under house arrest, preventing him from leaving his house for six days. The scholar eventually realized the deceit and reported to the police. Sajjanar cautioned against cybercriminals who, impersonating police, threaten individuals with fabricated ties to drugs and terrorism to extort large sums of money.
