Married woman poses as bride, dupes NRI of Rs. 35 lakh

Hyderabad, Jan 4, 2015: A 32-year old married woman from Hyderabad, living with husband and two children, tried to kill self after the police had exposed her con act of duping an NRI to the tune of Rs. 35 lakh through her false bride profile. The woman, Malavika of Begumpet , had uploaded her false profile to Matrimony.com seeking a bride groom to which one G.Prasant of USA responded and agreed to marry her. In her cooked up profile, she said she was born in the US but came to India to look after her grandfather after her grandmother's death. She said she was a children's specialist and was earning not less than Rs. 1 lakh per month as doctor. Believing the story, Prasant agreed to marry her and started chatting with her. They became very good friends ahead of the proposed marriage. On her request, he transferred Rs. 35 lakh to her account in several installments. In November , he came to India to marry her but when he landed in Hyderabad, her whereabouts were missing. He then realised he was taken for a ride. He had lodged a police complaint but the Police took time to trace her as she had changed her residence to avoid police problems. After succeeding in identifying her , they called her for investigation to the police station but , after coming to the police station around 11 AM today, she had consumed pesticide and tried to kill self. Police immediately shifted her to a nearby hospital where she was recovering. They found a suicide note in her hand bag also.
