Akbaruddin Owaisi hate speech: HC issues notices; hearing adjourned to Dec 30

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has issued notices to the Telangana government and police in the case of hateful remarks made by MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi during his visits to Nirmal and Nizamabad 10 years ago. 

Lawyer Karuna Sagar filed a petition in the High Court challenging the Nampally court's verdict on Akbaruddin's comments. After hearing the petition, the High Court issued notices to the government and the police and adjourned the further hearing to December 30.

In fact, Owaisi was acquitted in this case on April 13 this year. The Court of People's Representatives in Nampally announced the judgment dismissing the two cases 10 years ago. The court of MPs and MLAs has examined more than 30 witnesses in these two cases and has delivered a verdict. The court has made it clear that the case is being dismissed after a thorough examination of the evidence.

Judge Jaya Kumar of the People's Representative Court advised MLA Akbaruddin not to celebrate just because this case was dismissed. Akbaruddin was directed not to make such hateful remarks anywhere again. A person of the level of a lawmaker should not have made such comments as they are not safe for the integrity of the country.

In the month of December 2012, Akbaruddin Owaisi made hateful comments during his visits to Nirmal and Nizamabad. At that time, it caused an uproar in the whole country.  As per the orders of the then Kiran Kumar Reddy government, the local police su moto registered cases against Akbaruddin. 

Later, he went to London for a few days on health grounds. After that, when he returned to Hyderabad, he was arrested by the police at the airport. Akbaruddin was kept in jail for about 40 days in this case. After that, he was released on bail, and the case was dismissed by the Nampally People's Representative Court after a hearing.

On April 13 this year, BJP state president Bandi Sanjay demanded that the government immediately go for an appeal after the court dismissed the case against Akbaruddin. He said that the whole world has seen Akbaruddin's comments against Hindus, but it is surprising that the court acquitted him.

It is alleged that the court needs evidence and evidence, but the State government has not submitted the required evidence. He asked what more proof is needed that the TRS government is in collusion with the MIM
