TRS delegation to meet Election Commission of India for change of name nod

Delhi, October 6: A TRS delegation led by Telangana State Planning Board Vice-Chairman Vinod Kumar will be meeting the Election Commission of India on Thursday seeking approval for change of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). A team of lawyers, who are accompanying the TRS leaders, will be urging the poll body to give nod as per the Representation of the People Act and relevant rules.
 
On Wednesday, TRS chief and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao signed a resolution unanimously passed by the TRS extended executive committee over change of name. According to reports, KCR wants to complete all formalities as early as possible as he wants to field candidate on BRS name in Munugode by-election to register a first victory.
 
The TRS chief is keen to highlight good governance in Telangana as a model to entire country ahead of general elections. He made it clear that his priority is welfare of farmers.
