3 school girls drown in stream in Chintoor
Vetapalem (Bapatla District), September 27: Three tenth class students drowned in a stream in Chintoor on Monday morning.
According to sources, Anugna High School, Desaipet panchayat, took 21 students of tenth class, including 15 boys and 6 girls, to Bhadrachalam and Araku on excursion. After visiting Bhadrachalam on Sunday, they went to Chintoor on Monday morning.
Students entered into Sokileru stream at Chintoor view point. A girl student slipped into the water and two others tried to grab her by hand. But all the three drowned and died.
Chintoor police said that the deceased were identified as Gummari Jayasri , Suvarna Kamala and Gitanjali, all aged 14. The bodies have been retrieved and sent to government hospital in Chintoor for postmortem. Police informed the family members of the deceased about the incident, registered a case and took up investigation.
