Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman angry on Kamareddy Collector

Kamareddy, September 2: On the second day of her Telangana tour, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman inspected a ration shop at Birkoor village in Banswada town on Friday. She asked Kamareddy District Collector Jitesh V Patil regarding quota of Centre and State in free ration rice distributed to the poor.

Patil informed Sitaraman that he is not aware of Central government’s quota in free ration rice. “Being an IAS officer, why you don’t have information about Centre and State’s quota,” she said and directed him to tell details to her within 30 minutes.

The union minister on Thursday toured Kamareddy district. She criticised the TRS government for escalating Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project cost from Rs 38,500 crore to Rs 1.25 lakh crore. “Centre has every right to ask about debts taken by the KCR government,” she mentioned.

Sitaraman further said that the Central government sanctioned Rs 20,000 crore to Telangana state towards National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS). “Officials will probe if NREGS funds are not utilised,” she warned.
