Official apathy: A man carrying body of his daughter go viral on social media

Bhopal: In a heart-rending incident, a man carrying the body of his daughter when the government hospital failed to arrange an ambulance to reach his village went viral on social media. Similar incidents have been reported across the country of late. On learning about the incidents, people were shocked and blamed the authorities for the sorry state affairs of government hospitals.

Even 75 years after independence, the common man in the country has been deprived of medical facilities. On the one hand, there is not enough medical staff for the masses and on the other hand, loopholes in the government hospitals come every now and then. When the media highlights the inhuman incidents the respective governments order a probe into the incidents and wash their hands off.

The recent incident in the Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh went viral on social media where a video of a father carrying the body of a four-year-old girl on his shoulders and walking on foot. The video, taken by some villagers on the way, has gone viral, on watching the video netizens were shocked and took the government hospital staff to task.

Man belongs to the village of Powdy and the girl, who fell sick, was admitted to the Booksvaha Health Centre where her condition deteriorated on Monday. Later, she was rushed to the Damoh District Hospital on Tuesday, but there she breathed her last.

When the father of the girl asked for an ambulance to take the body home, the hospital staff did not respond positively. With this, the man covered the body with a blanket and boarded a bus and alighted in Booksvaha, and urged the Nagar Panchayat authorities to arrange a vehicle. But, the authorities, there, too, did not respond. Therefore the hapless father carried the body on his shoulders and went to his village on foot. However, in response to the Damoh incident, the hospital officials said that they had not received any request for an ambulance.
