Is R. Krishnaiah champion for BCs, asks Chandrababu; YSRCP counters TDP chief

Ongole, May 27: During inaugural address at Mahanadu here, TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday criticised the YSRCP for nominating a former TDP MLA from Telangana to the Rajya Sabha. Without taking name, he referred to National Backward Classes Welfare Association president R. Krishnaiah.

Naidu asked as to whether Krishnaiah is champion for BCs because he did not oppose exclusion of 12 castes including Thoorpu Kapu and Koppula Velama from BC list in the state of Telangana. He also alleged that the YSRCP sold Rajya Sabha seat to Krishnaiah.

Countering Chandrababu’s allegations, YSRCP Rajya Sabha member Mopidevi Venkataramana said that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy gave seat to Krishnaiah so that he can raise BC issues in Rajya Sabha. He slammed Chandrababu for politicising Rajya Sabha seat allocation to a BC leader, who has been fighting for problems related to BCs. “In the past, Chandrababu had sold Rajya Sabha seats by taking money,” he alleged.
