Row over MP Navneet Rana MRI picture going viral; police register case

Mumbai: A case has been registered at the Bandra police station in Mumbai against an unidentified man, who photographed Amravati MP Navneet Rana while undergoing an MRI at Lilavati Hospital. The CCTV footage showed a man taking a photo with his mobile phone. But, as the face was not clearly visible it became difficult to know who the person was. Did the person have any acquaintance with Rana or the hospital staff or any outsiders? Police are investigating the case.

MP Navneet Rana and MLA Ravi Rana, who had come to read Hanuman Chalisa in front of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's residence in Kalanagar, Bandra, a fortnight ago, were booked and arrested for treason. The couple, who spent nearly a fortnight in jail, was recently released on bail.
She was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Bandra with back and neck pain.

On the advice of doctors, she was taken to the cabin to have an MRI at around 10 pm on May 6. There was Rana's bodyguard wearing a white shirt, another unidentified man. An unidentified man at the time took a photo of Navneet Rana lying on a trolley while undergoing the MRI examination through his mobile without taking permission. He not only gave the photo to the media, but also uploaded it on social media.

According to the rules, no one else should go into the MRI cabin and take photos. Electronic and metal objects should not be taken there, especially due to their magnetic properties. After the photo went viral, Shiv Sena leaders went their ire at the hospital staff while a case was registered in the Bandra police station. Later, the Lilavati Hospital hospital security department supervisor also lodged a complaint with the police. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and launched a man-hunt for the unidentified man.
