AP bags 16 national panchayat awards

Vijayawada, April 13: The Andhra Pradesh government has bagged 16 best zilla parishad, mandal parishad and gram panchayat awards of the total awards announced by the Central government.
The Centre has announced the awards for the financial year of 2020-21 based on local governance in rural areas. 11 village panchayats, four mandal parishads and one zilla parishad from Andhra Pradesh have secured the awards.

Union Panchayat Raj secretary Sunil Kumar wrote a letter to AP chief secretary Sameer Sharma in this regard. The awards would be presented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a programme in Pali village panchayat in Jammu and Kashmir through virtual mode. 

State Panchayat Raj commissioner Kona Sasidhar has informed that the Centre will present Rs 50 lakh to zilla parishad, Rs 25 lakh to each mandal parishad and Rs 8 to Rs 16 lakh to each gram panchayat based on population under these awards.
