AP imposes 50% power cuts on industrial sector

With the steep rise in demand for power, the AP Transco has imposed 50 per cent load relief for industries working 24 hours and directed other industrial units to use electricity only in day time for the next 15 days. The power holiday for two days in a week would come into effect from April 8 to 22.

Further, the AP Transco stated that the three discoms will implement power cuts for industrial sector. “It has become imperative to declare power holiday for providing uninterrupted electricity supply to agriculture sector and households,” it announced.

The AP Transco advised shopping malls, business and commercial organisations to use power judiciously from 6 pm to next day 6 am. The power transmission company also directed all government and private organisations, and shopping malls to cut down usage of air-conditioners by 50 per cent. The power holiday would be lifted once electricity is available to meet required demand, it stated.
