Centre to reduce gap between two doses of Covieshleld vaccine

New Delhi: Vaccines such as Covishield, Covaxin, Sputnik V and Korbevax are being administered to the people in the wake of Corona outbreaks. Recently, the Centre has decided to reduce the gap between two doses of the Covishield vaccine. Until now, those who took the first dose of Covshield had to wait 12 to 16 weeks for the second dose. However, the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (NTAGI) has now recommended that the duration be reduced from 8 to 16 weeks.

Thus, there was no change in the 28-day interval between the two doses of Covaxin. The Covshield vaccine was developed jointly by Oxford University and Astrogenica. It is being mass-produced by the Serum Institute of India. Kovaxiin is being developed by the Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech Pharma Research Institute
