Hyderabad: The Indian Premier League (IPL) has become synonymous with money. It is no exaggeration to say that the IPL is a platform where even ordinary players can become billionaires. Tim David is a case in point.

Tim David is a Singapore player, which does not even have Test status. Today's auction reveals how wrong it is to think of the price a cricketer representing such a country would have in the IPL.

Mumbai Indians have bought Tim David in an IPL auction. Mumbai paid Rs 8.25 crore for this batsman. Although many other teams competed for him, Mumbai bagged him.

The 6.5-foot-tall Tim David has so far played in 14 T20 internationals and scored 558 runs with a strike rate of 158.52. His highest score in the T20s was 92 not out. Tim David, who has played 85 T20s in various leagues, has scored 1,908 runs. League cricket also has a strike rate of over 150. He also does spin bowling.

Tim David has previously represented Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. This time he will play for Mumbai Indians. Tim David has represented several teams in Australian domestic cricket.
