M 5.5 quake hits New Zealand

Wellington, Dec 4: An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale jolted 10 km east of Seddon, New Zealand South Island on Sunday, the government's GeoNet monitoring service said. The epicentre, with a depth of 12 km, was initially determined at 41.68 degrees south latitude and 174.18 degrees east longitude, Xinhua news agency reported.
