Karem Shivaji's appointment as AP SC,ST corporation chairman set aside

Hyderabad, Nov.4: In a major setback to AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the High Court of Hyderabad on Friday disqualified the appointment of Karem Shivaji, Chairman of Mala Mahandu, as Chairman of the State's SC, ST Corporation. Delivering its ruling on the petition filed against the appointment by one Prasad, the court found that the appointment given by the AP government was illegal and unconstitutional. The court upheld the plea of the petitioner as to how a person who is Chairman of an organization representing a particular sect can do justice to all the SCs and STs. Even his qualification to head the corporation was also questioned. While setting aside the appointment of Shivaji, the court directed the AP government to issue fresh notification calling for suitable candidates to head the corporation.
