Bhumana decries violence on YCP women at Tirupati

The police indulged in violence in Tirupati where the YCP leaders staged the bandh, demanding the promised Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday. The police behaved in a high-handed manner and did not spare women either, the YCP said. The male policemen roughly handled the women, some of whose saris were torn. The women on Wednesday took out a procession to protest against police high-handedness, displaying the torn saris in the pilgrim town. Yesterday's bandh procession taken out by women's wing of the party was led by Bhumana Karunakar Reddy and Chevireddy, MLA. Bhumana said instead of supporting the agitating women, the police unleashed violence on them. They insulted and humiliated the women, he added. Some of their mangalsutrams were also snapped, he alleged.
