Two women badly beaten for carrying beef in Mandsaur

Much like the Mohammed Aklaq case in Uttar Pradesh wherein a man was lynched for eating and storing cow beef, two women were badly beaten at Mandsaur railway station in Madhya Pradesh on the charge of carrying beef for sale. Crying `Gomataki Jai,' a mob surrounded the two women, trampled and beaten them even as the police remained mute spectators. The women were said to be carrying 30 kilos of beef. The people who witnessed the mob attack merely took videos of the incident and uploaded those in the social media. They did not interfere with the mob attak but highlighted the police remaining mute spectators. Eventually the beef was checked whether it was of cow's. The test proved it was buffalo's. In the Akhlaq case, however, the beef was found to be that of cow's. There is a ban on cow slaughter, which is a Directive Principle of State Policy, but not on buffalo beef. However, the women had no licence to sell beef, it was stated.
